Code Compliance

GFS Paint Kitchens comply with National Fire Protection Association Fire Code - NFPA-30, Flammable and Combustible Liduids. International Fire Code.

Explosion Relief Vent Panels: Explosion-relief vent panels designed to release at a maximum internal pressure of 20 psf. Location - rear wall of building. Each panel is sealed to prevent gases from escaping to the exterior. Explosion-relief panels are equipped with FMRC-approved explosion-relief fasteners.

Interior Lighting: Explosion proof incandescent ceiling mounted with guard, glass globe and 300 Watt lamp.

Walls: 6" wide steel studs spaced 12" covered with two layers of 5/8" type exterior gypsum wallboard each side. Skinned with ASTM A591, 18-gauge steel white polyurethane coated panels.

Roof/Ceiling: The roof consists of joists 7" deep and spaced 
at 12" on center. Two layers of gypsum board are attached to the interior and covered with 18-gauge white polyurethane coated steel panels. Exterior is skinned with 18-gauge white coated steel panels.

Steel Grating: 1" bars painted black.

Floor Support: 6" steel beams run the entire length of the housing and are positioned for holding heavy capacities.

Ventilation System: 680 cfm @ 3/8 sp for optimum air exchange rating.

Control Panel: NEMA 4 water/oil tight enclosure incorporates voltage per customer requirements, UL listed system, fuse block, and operating switches.

Sump Construction: Liquid tight heavy gauge sheet steel supported by exterior welded steel risers to allow for under sump leak inspection.

Extra Large Spill Containment: Sump holds 30% of locker's 
liquid storage capacity surpassing regulatory and FM requirements.

Static Electricity Bonding/Grounding System: Interior wall-mounted grounding lugs and exterior grounding connection, separate 8-ft. grounding rod and cable for customer installation.

• Fire Protection Options: 
  - Dry Chemical Systems: A pre-engineered industrial Dry Chemical fire extinguisher system that incorporates a network of piping and discharge nozzles as defined by NFPA-17. A "Total Flooding" system is used whereby the Dry Chemical is discharged into the building enclosure. This system includes an agent storage tank, actuator, quick release, flow nozzles, 212° F fusible link, pull-station, and alarm. UL listed. The Dry Chemical System cylinder may need to be charged by customer upon arrival.
  - Water Sprinkler-Systems: Featuring sprinkler heads and exterior hook-ups connecting adapter in accordance with NFPA-13. May require additional sump capacity.

  
  Fiberglass Floor Grating: 1" thick, fire retardant, corrosion and UV resistant, permanently bonded quartz grit for anti-skid surface.
  

   

  Liquid Level Detection System with Alarm: Features a fiberoptic sensor and float.
  

   

  Ramp: Access ramp fabricated from heavy-duty plate steel. One-piece fabrication without welding points providing non-corrosive, long life finish. 6:1 ratio run to rise 12" h x 70-1/2" l x 33" w. Painted white polyurethane with 2" wide grip tape at 4" intervals.
  

   

  Heaters, Convection: Designed for hazardous locations, Class 1, Division 1, Groups C and D environments. Custom sizes for each specific application.

Air Conditioning Units: Externally mounted on roof or at grade. Designed for specific applications.

Building Code Compliance: Complies with additional regulations set by: IBC, and IFC.
- Additional 6" of sump height to contain 20 minutes of sprinkler water plus single largest container.
- Adaptions to accept ducting at explosion relief panels. This 
allows for easy vent ducting to outside. Additional duct panels 
not included.

- Special State compliance, contact GFS.

Outside Locations: Security bars on explosion relief, single ply roof membrane, insulated walls and ceiling.

Bulkhead Fittings: Factory installed for paint and airline needs. Can be mounted in the walls or ceiling.

Explosion Relief Panels: Roof explosion-relief vent panels available for indoor applications ONLY.
